It is not good for the little store and not good for the consumer because after they buy up all the competition, the prices will be what they want to charge and not what the consumer wants to pay. In my opinion, Nike is too big and consumers should realize this and put their hard-earned money elsewhere.

Re: From Cuffs to Debonair Millionaire: Taking a Page Out of Diddy’s Reputation Book

I read a little bit sorry im a little selfish I wanted you to hear what I wrote it may not be good but your the only person. At that point, it seemed to be more about the owner than his team, but there was no mistaking what his vision was and what he expected of the people he hired. In later years, his antics became much more muted, but his standards remained, and it became more about the team than the owner. Granted, he'd aged and retired from active leadership, but one would also like to think that he felt that the people he hired had become good stewards of the brand.

With careful tending, George's standards of excellence and leadership will persist for decades to come.

Re: When a Brand Goes ‘Graveyard Dead’

Like a good PR student I have diligently been following the whole Tiger drama from the perspective of "If I was his 'handler" what would I do?" And I wonder who is really making the decisions for Tiger? Seems to me like any good PR person would recognize the building blocks for creating a proper reputational foundation and strongly encourage (read: force) Tiger to follow the rules. But perhaps this is another indication of Tiger's arrogance and disregard for anyone other than himself as he isn't listening to the advice of the experts who could save his butt. There is a process for dealing with personal crises like these and it seems to me like Tiger deserves his "graveyard dead" classification for again thinking he's above the rules.

Re: Tiger Woods – Shanking it Badly on Reputation

. . . . There's so much being made about whether Tiger's personal life should be so thoroughly scrutinized. Even if he's not interested in working to repair his personal brand - the very brand that he has leveraged into hundreds of millions of endorsement dollars as a public figure - a quick, humble and transparent approach is still the best way to neutralize the scrutiny and allow his family to move on with their lives. By remaining defensive, hoping that everyone will forget and continuing with his current strategy, he's actually providing critics with new ammunition and prolonging the pain rather than diffusing the issue by taking his lumps and moving on. Andy Pettitte is probably one of the best case studies on how a pro athlete can quickly take full responsibility for something, apologize and move on. And if Mark McGwire can be forgiven after years of hoping it would just go away, then almost any person or brand can start fresh. And the parallel to the corporate world is spot on.

Re: Does “We’re Sorry” Cut It?

Mike, I couldn't agree more. Actions ALWAYS speak louder than words, especially in times of crisis. Communicators can focus on telling the story of the actions taken to solve the problem and that does a company a world of good.
